How did Lamb Direct come about? For well over 20 years a group of progressive and committed Mayo farmers have been working together marketing their Lamb as well as sharing their ideas and developing and improving farming practices. Recently they have been working on a vision to bring their produce directly to the consumer.... |

All of the 8 members of the Lamb Direct group are from the Tourmakeady and Westport region of Mayo, as indicated in the map above. |
All our lamb comes from local farms. The breed of sheep we farm are mountain and lowland types. They have evolved naturally over the years with the landscape and herbage, and have a rare distinctive and traditional flavour. All our lamb is hung on the bone for a minimum of 10 days, a recognised traditional method for ensuring tenderness of the meat. However, the best thing about buying from Lamb Direct is that you are getting locally produced product, directly from the farmer, which will cost you significantly less than in your supermarket. |
